About You:

  • You are local to NYC/tri-state area (transportation and lodging are not provided for these roles)
  • You have event / project management experience as a freelancer, at an agency or on the client side
  • You have a can-do attitude with no task too big or small.
  • You are creative, tactical, a problem-solver and a self-starter.
  • You have a keen eye for detail, accuracy in organizing large data, and love spreadsheets!
  • You are punctual, reliable, and flexible.
  • You present professionally with poise and clear communication, especially when client-facing.

Responsibilities

  • Overall
    • Work both autonomously and alongside (depending on project) our Chief Creative Officer on internally- and externally-facing creative projects of all types with a variety of clients and formats
    • Creating impressive, solid, and portfolio-worthy work for Sequence and our Clients
    • Positive can-do attitude, with no task too big or too small
    • Work on multiple projects simultaneously at various stages
    • Bring a detail-oriented eye and the highest standard to all of your work and the work of subordinates
    • Incredibly resourceful – always looking for and cultivating new vendors & partners
    • Present clear, likable & succinct pitching skills to demonstrate in all creative presentations to a wide range of clients and personalities
  • Areas of Focus

    • Proposals and RFPs, creating a compelling story about SEQ and the Client’s experience

    • Strategic creative solutions
    • Innovative and out of the box thinking, rooted in realities of budgets and other parameters
    • Role of brand guidelines on event concepts and designs
    • Transforming a physical (or digital) space, via decoration, branding, installation & rigging
    • Graphics and collateral design & working with graphic and scenic designers of all types
    • Attention to industry trends such as events, fashion, art, design, technology and more
  • Team Management
    • Serve as confident & approachable leader to your team
    • Encourage and embody clear, kind, professional collaborative interactions within the Creative Team and Team SEQ as a whole
    • Hold team members and subordinates accountable to process and timelines, being a role model
    • Providing thoughtful and direct feedback to team members and subordinates with an eye to their growth, development and mental health
    • Encouraging the team to think outside the box, be innovative and take strategic risks
  • Proposals & Brainstorming
    • Develop and Drive creative proposal process for potential clients: content gathering & development, implementation of custom design template, delegation of tasks, deck assembly and ensuring delivery by deadline
    • Ensure that SEQ proposals are telling the right story, showing not telling, and making the most compelling case creatively and strategically
    • Schedule and collaboratively lead team brainstorms, when appropriate
    • Create & circulate design briefs for teams participating in group brainstorms
  • Event Concepting
    • Expertly assessing and addressing client’s event goals & KPIs through creative solutions
    • Building creative event concepts with a client’s strategic goals in mind
    • Work autonomously and alongside CCO re: SEQ Discovery process
    • Work autonomously and alongside CCO to ensure all assets, KPIs, and project-related questions have been documented and considered as part of the creative concepting process
    • Create conceptual mood boards & presentations with an eye to style & accuracy. This should include the ability to write compelling copy, proofread and ensure SEQ style guidelines.
    • Perform research related to creative & design elements, venues, vendors, etc.
    • Cultivate resources for mock-ups, renderings & other visual communications to client (to HubSpot)
    • Cultivate resources for creative installations & fabrication, rentals & other décor elements (to Hubspot)
  • Event Design: Projects, Process & Procedure
    • Lead SEQ event team(s) on creative projects or creative aspects of larger projects to ensure those aspects are fully owned from inception through to fruition with an eye to bridge building and smooth collaboration for full success
    • Present confidently and kindly to & liaise with clients on creative projects or creative aspects of larger projects and help enhance SEQ relationships & reputation
    • Update & document SEQ’s design processes in guides & templates whenever relevant ensuring that these are adhered to judiciously within Team SEQ
    • Ensure creative & design-related project scopes & time estimates for client contracts are detailed and accurate (eye to rounds, services, timeframe, etc.). Assist, as needed, in hours assessments for the Creative Team within scopes
    • Building creative & design sections of project timeline in monday.com, holding the team accountable
    • Own event design budgetary process, including accurate projecting (with markups) and overseeing vendor payments & EPSs as needed
    • Ensure post-event asset management process – renderings / mock-ups / key design elements to Air, updates to final Event Decks or leadership in client-facing Wrap Reports, as scoped
  • Other
    • XFN with SEQ Marketing re: creative event coverage, event assets & award submission opportunities
    • XFN with SEQ New Biz on materials needs & proposal process
    • Help to uphold and shape the SEQ visual brand, creative document layouts, SEQ swag, client gifts, and ensure brand consistency across the board on all related initiatives
  • Necessary Skills
    • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, other key design software
    • G-suite: Slides and Sheets a must
    • Eye for aesthetics – moodboarding
Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years experience in event production, brand identity and / or experiential activations
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced industry
  • A creative and strategic brain for what is unique and could wow an audience
  • Storytelling skills with the ability to think conceptually on a vision or set of KPI’s
  • A team spirit with an obsession for collaboration
  • A fervent curiosity and unyielding passion for the work!
